Less than 48 hours before a major US Israeli military strike on Iran Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a crucial phone call with US President Donald Trump discussing the timing and strategic importance of the operation. Intelligence reports indicated that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior officials were expected to gather in Tehran presenting a rare opportunity for a high-impact decapitation strike.
Sources revealed that updated intelligence showed the meeting had been moved earlier than expected, increasing urgency. Netanyahu reportedly emphasized that this could be the best chance to eliminate Iran’s top leadership and counter alleged past threats, including a 2024 plot linked to Iran targeting Trump.
While Trump had already approved the concept of military action the timing remained undecided. The call is believed to have played a key role in his final decision to proceed with the operation, later known as Operation Epic Fury.
The strikes began on February 28, targeting Iran’s nuclear and missile infrastructure. The escalation triggered regional instability retaliatory attacks and rising global tensions marking a significant turning point in Middle East geopolitics.
