Islamabad’s Advocate General, Ayaz Shaukat, has resigned from his position and submitted his written resignation to President Asif Ali Zardari.
In his resignation letter, Ayaz Shaukat stated that the government has appointed him as Chairman of the Social Media Authority. Due to the demands of this new role, he said it would not be possible for him to continue serving as Advocate General simultaneously, leading to his decision to step down.
He emphasized that during his tenure, he carried out his responsibilities with integrity and professionalism. He added that he fulfilled his duties while upholding the principles of rule of law, transparency, and justice.
Shaukat further noted that the requirements of his new position are of a different nature and will require his full attention and time.
According to official sources, the resignation is currently under consideration by the relevant authorities. Consultations are also expected to begin soon regarding the appointment of a new Advocate General.
Legal experts have highlighted that the position of Advocate General is highly significant, as it plays a key role in handling legal matters for the provincial or federal government.
