Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Esmail Baghaei, emphasized the country’s positive relationship with neighboring Pakistan noting that Tehran recognizes Pakistan’s good intentions. He stated that Iranian Foreign Minister has been in contact with counterparts from neighboring countries, including Pakistan to reduce regional tensions. Baghaei highlighted that regional states are concerned about ongoing conflicts and are actively seeking ways to stabilize the situation.
He further explained that several countries offered to mediate between Tehran and Washington, and Iran responded according to its principles, asserting that it will continue to defend itself. Baghaei dismissed U.S. and Israeli claims about negotiations as unreliable, noting that Iran has experienced destructive incidents during past diplomatic engagements including attacks during nuclear talks.
Over the past 24 days there has been no direct communication between Iran and the U.S. Iranian armed forces continue to protect national territorial integrity and ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, implementing measures due to the imposed wartime situation. Baghaei confirmed that any attacks on Iran’s critical infrastructure would elicit immediate and decisive retaliation. Iran has also conducted counterattacks targeting U.S. interests in West Asia and Israeli positions in occupied territories maintaining its firm stance on defense and regional security.
