Federal Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb has assured Khyber Pakhtunkhwa of full federal support in addressing its financial and economic challenges during a meeting with Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
According to the Ministry of Finance the meeting took place at the Finance Division where the chief minister briefed the minister on a range of fiscal issues faced by the provincial government. The discussion was described as cordial and constructive with both sides emphasizing the importance of close coordination to resolve outstanding matters.
Aurangzeb acknowledged the province’s legitimate concerns and reiterated the federal government’s commitment to providing necessary support. The meeting comes amid ongoing discussions about financial transfers, including funding for merged districts and additional allocations sought by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The development follows a recent high level consultative session chaired by Asif Ali Zardari attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and all four provincial chief ministers. Leaders reviewed economic pressures stemming from global developments and agreed against imposing a nationwide smart lockdown while stressing unity in tackling economic challenges.
