Pakistan-Afghanistan Peace Jirga Issues Joint Declaration Calling for Ceasefire and Dialogue

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Participants stress ceasefire, dialogue, and sustained diplomatic engagement to reduce cross-border tensions.

PESHAWAR: A Pakistan-Afghanistan peace jirga held in Peshawar under local reform and civil society platforms concluded with a joint declaration calling for an immediate ceasefire and strengthened diplomatic engagement between the two neighboring countries.

The jirga brought together political leaders, religious scholars, tribal elders, and social activists from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, who expressed deep concern over ongoing tensions and conflict in the region. Participants noted that Pakistan and Afghanistan share deep historical, cultural, and religious ties, and stressed that continued hostility undermines regional stability and public welfare.

The declaration urged both governments to ensure that their respective territories are not used against each other under any circumstances. It emphasized that peace can only be achieved through dialogue, mutual respect, and sustained diplomatic channels rather than military confrontation.

Delegates also recommended the establishment of a permanent joint coordination platform to facilitate continuous communication and better understanding of bilateral concerns.

Organizers said the initiative aims to reduce tensions through collective wisdom and promote practical steps toward long-term peace and stability across the border regions.
