Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has reacted strongly to the recent increase in petroleum prices in the country, stating that it will severely impact the already struggling public.
In a statement shared on social media platform X, Afridi clarified that some misleading elements were circulating an old video of his to create the impression that he supported the price hike. He explained that the video was recorded before the recent increase and was only meant to promote energy conservation and reduced fuel consumption, prepared at the request of the Ministry of Information.
Afridi emphasized that the latest surge in petroleum prices is unbearable for the common people and cannot be defended under any circumstances.
It is worth noting that the government recently increased petrol prices by Rs. 137.24 per liter and diesel prices by Rs. 184.49 per liter, adding further financial burden on citizens.
