Vitamin A supplements to be administered alongside polio drops during week-long drive
Islamabad: Pakistan will launch its second nationwide anti-polio campaign of 2026 from April 13 to April 19, aiming to vaccinate more than 45 million children, according to the National Emergency Operations Centre (EOC).
Officials said the campaign will be supported by approximately 413,000 frontline workers who will go door-to-door to ensure maximum coverage. In addition to administering polio drops, children will also receive Vitamin A supplements to strengthen immunity.
The largest share of vaccinations will take place in Punjab, targeting over 23 million children, followed by Sindh with more than 10.6 million and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with over 7.2 million. In Balochistan, over 2.6 million children will be vaccinated, while Islamabad plans to reach more than 460,000 children.
Smaller regions will also be covered, including Gilgit-Baltistan with over 228,000 children and Azad Jammu and Kashmir with more than 760,000.
Health authorities emphasized that protecting children from polio is a national responsibility and urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams. Families have been strongly encouraged to open their doors to polio workers and ensure their children receive timely vaccinations.
Parents were also advised to complete routine immunization schedules for children up to 15 months of age to ensure full protection against preventable diseases.
