Bollywood actress Jhanvi Kapoor has revealed that she struggled with depression following the release of her debut film Dhadak in 2018. Speaking on a podcast with Raj Shamani, the 29-year-old actress shared that despite the film’s commercial success, her personal experience was very different.
Jhanvi, daughter of the late Sridevi and Boney Kapoor and niece of superstar Anil Kapoor, explained that she felt immense pressure and believed people disliked her. She said, “I thought my career was over, and that people didn’t like me,” adding that she relied on her late mother’s approval, and after her passing, she sought validation from the audience, which was not forthcoming.
She admitted that she focused only on negative aspects of her career and failed to appreciate the film’s success. “Even though it was one of the most successful films for a newcomer, I didn’t realize it was a hit; I only saw failure and criticism,” she said.
Jhanvi Kapoor started her Bollywood career with Dhadak, co-starring Ishaan Khatter. Her candid discussion sheds light on the mental health challenges actors face despite fame and commercial success.
