Dr. Bilal Qutb draws historical parallels while discussing Ali Zafar’s legal victory in Meesha Shafi’s harassment case
Islamabad: Dr. Bilal Qutb of Qutb Online drew parallels between the recent high-profile harassment case involving Ali Zafar and the story of Hazrat Yusuf (AS) during his latest show.
Ali Zafar, a renowned singer and actor with global recognition, had been embroiled in controversy for the past eight years after fellow artist Meesha Shafi accused him of harassment on social media while they worked together. The case became part of Pakistan’s Me Too movement.
After years of legal proceedings, the court ruled in favor of Ali Zafar, ordering Meesha Shafi to pay 5 million PKR in damages, marking a significant victory for the actor.
Dr. Bilal Qutb commented on the broader context of harassment cases, stating that such incidents have historical precedents. He compared the allegations to the story of Hazrat Yusuf (AS) and Zulekha, suggesting that harassment claims often arise when personal desires are not fulfilled. Dr. Qutb also expressed difficulty in understanding the term “harassment” and questioned where such behavior begins and ends.
His remarks have sparked debate on social media, with supporters and critics weighing in on both Ali Zafar’s case and Dr. Qutb’s comparison.
