Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir have reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to fully support the United States and Iran in achieving a peaceful agreement following a recent ceasefire.
During a meeting in Islamabad, both leaders reviewed mediation efforts and expressed satisfaction over the de-escalation so far. They emphasized the importance of maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring continued restraint to achieve lasting peace.
The prime minister had earlier announced a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran, inviting both nations to Islamabad for further negotiations. US President Donald Trump endorsed the truce, calling it a positive step toward global stability.
Meanwhile, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed strong support for the government’s diplomatic role, highlighting the need for national unity.
Pakistan has played a key role in facilitating dialogue, including hosting consultations and back-channel talks. The leadership reiterated its resolve to continue promoting peace, stability, and constructive engagement in the region.
