Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that 25 years of efforts have finally paid off, claiming that Pakistan has become a member of an “exclusive club” and its security has been “guaranteed, praise be to God.”
In his statement, he said that only a few moments in Pakistan’s post-independence history could be described as truly historic, adding that one such moment was when Nawaz Sharif took a stand and conducted nuclear tests, which elevated Pakistan’s strategic position.
He further stated that decades of efforts have now resulted in Pakistan gaining recognition and becoming part of a select group of nations, saying the country’s security is now assured.
Referring to regional tensions, Khawaja Asif said that when Pakistan’s “traditional rival India challenged it,” the country responded strongly and proved its capabilities, earning global acknowledgment for its armed forces.
He added that Pakistan is now at the centre of international diplomacy, with global attention focused on Islamabad. He credited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir for elevating the country’s global standing.
The defence minister said Pakistan is playing the role of a peacemaker in the region and expressed hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts will bring further success and stability.
