Unusual Venue: KP Assembly to Convene at Imran Khan Stadium

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Speaker calls session at an unconventional venue following earlier announcement by chief minister.

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly session has been formally summoned at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, marking an unusual move to hold proceedings outside the traditional assembly building.

According to official notification, the Speaker has called the session for April 22 at 3:00 p.m., directing all members to attend at the designated venue. The decision follows earlier remarks by Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, who had announced during a public gathering in Mardan on April 19 that the assembly session would be convened in a ground setting.

The move is being seen as a significant departure from standard parliamentary practice, as legislative sessions are typically held designated assembly premises equipped for formal proceedings.

Officials have not yet provided detailed reasons for selecting the stadium as the venue, though arrangements are reportedly being made to accommodate lawmakers, media, and security personnel.

Observers say the decision could carry both symbolic and logistical implications, potentially reflecting the government’s intent to engage publicly or address specific circumstances surrounding governance and political activity in the province.

Further details regarding the agenda of the session and security arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
