Police target students with safety education as underage driving and reckless stunts raise serious concerns.
BAHAWALNAGAR: (Amir Sultan) In a decisive move to tackle rising road accidents and promote responsible driving, Bahawalnagar police have intensified a district-wide traffic awareness campaign, placing students at the center of their strategy.
Acting on special directives from District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Imran, officials have rolled out a series of educational seminars aimed at instilling traffic discipline and reducing preventable road mishaps. The initiative reflects growing concern over unsafe driving habits, particularly among young individuals.
As part of the campaign, the police education unit visited a local educational institution, where students received a detailed briefing on essential traffic laws. The session focused on practical safety measures, including proper road-crossing techniques, adherence to traffic signals, and the dangers associated with reckless activities like one-wheeling.
Officials also addressed the issue of underage driving, urging students to avoid getting behind the wheel without proper authorization. The importance of obtaining a valid driving license and learner’s permit was emphasized as a critical step toward ensuring road safety and legal compliance.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Muhammad Imran underscored that traffic laws are not merely about avoiding fines but are vital for protecting human lives. He stressed that empowering the younger generation with awareness and responsibility is key to building a safer society.
The seminar concluded with the distribution of informational pamphlets, encouraging students to extend the message beyond the classroom and help foster a culture of safety within their communities.
The campaign will continue across the district, signaling a long-term commitment to reducing accidents and promoting disciplined road behavior.
