Shock Move in Skardu, Police Training Sparks Attention on Intellectual Property Rights

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

A significant step toward modern policing was witnessed in Skardu, where law enforcement officers were introduced to the growing importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in criminal investigations and legal enforcement, highlighting how copyright violations and piracy cases are becoming increasingly relevant in today’s digital age.

The awareness session was organized under the supervision of DPO Skardu Ghulaam Rasool (PSP), bringing together senior and field-level officers to strengthen their understanding of intellectual property laws and enforcement procedures.

Barrister Malik Bilal Haider, Senior Manager at Oxford University Press, delivered a detailed briefing during the session. He guided investigation officers on key aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, including the identification of piracy, illegal duplication, and the legal frameworks available to take action against such offenses.

The training session was attended by DSPs, SDPOs, SHOs, investigation officers, and clerical staff, reflecting a broad institutional effort to integrate intellectual property awareness into routine policing practices. Officers were also briefed on practical investigation methods to handle copyright infringement cases more effectively.

Speaking on the occasion, DPO Skardu Ghulaam Rasool (PSP) emphasized that professional training in line with modern challenges is essential for law enforcement agencies. He stated that protecting citizens’ rights and ensuring the rule of law requires continuous capacity building and updated knowledge of emerging legal domains.

Officials noted that such initiatives are part of a broader effort to enhance investigative standards within the region, especially as digital piracy and intellectual property violations continue to evolve globally and locally.
