Election Commission Gilgit-Baltistan has suspended results in five constituencies, including all three Diamer seats, pending repolling at designated polling stations.
CHILAS: A significant development has emerged in the Gilgit-Baltistan election process after the Election Commission ordered the suspension of results in five constituencies, citing the need for repolling at specific polling stations.
According to an official notification, the Election Commission Gilgit-Baltistan directed returning officers to withhold final election results until repolling is completed in the affected polling stations. The order was issued on the instructions of the Chief Election Commissioner.
The decision impacts all three constituencies in Diamer district GBA-15, GBA-16, and GBA-17 where final result announcements have been temporarily halted.
In addition to Diamer, the Election Commission has also suspended results for GBA-08 Skardu and GBA-13 Astore. Election officials have been instructed not to issue official final notifications until the repolling process is completed and the additional votes are counted.
The move is expected to increase political uncertainty in several closely watched constituencies, where candidates and supporters have been awaiting final outcomes. Election authorities maintain that the decision is aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness, and the integrity of the electoral process.
The timing and schedule for repolling at the affected polling stations are expected to be announced by the Election Commission in the coming days.
