Police have registered a case under rape charges after a woman alleged she was lured with a job offer, while the investigation remains underway.
Bahawalnagar: Police in Bahawalnagar have registered a criminal case against a former councilor following allegations that he lured a woman with the promise of employment before sexually assaulting her.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the complainant alleged that the suspect contacted her by phone, offered to arrange a job, and allegedly received advance payments through a mobile wallet service. She claimed to have provided the transaction record to investigators as evidence.
The woman further alleged that she was asked to meet at the Bahawalnagar bus stand before being taken to a private restaurant on Chishtian Road, where she said the suspect sexually assaulted her against her will.
Police at Saddar Bahawalnagar Police Station have registered the case under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Code and initiated an investigation. Authorities have not publicly announced any arrest at the time of writing.
The social media post also alleged that the suspect has close political connections and raised concerns regarding the handling of the investigation, including claims about an unofficial individual answering a police investigator’s phone. These allegations have not been independently verified, and no official response from the accused or the individuals named has been made public.
