Landslide Alert Issued for Skardu Route as Heavy Rains Raise Travel Risks

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

NDMA advises travelers to remain vigilant as rainfall increases the risk of landslides across key mountain routes in northern Pakistan.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a landslide alert for the JSR/Skardu–Rondu Road, warning that persistent rainfall and ground erosion could trigger hazardous conditions across northern Pakistan over the next two days.

According to the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC), the weather situation is consistent with its earlier forecast, with increased risks of landslides in Skardu and surrounding areas, including Bromdo Nala, Chamcho, Malupa, and the Dambudas–Tormik–Haramosh section.

The advisory warns that erosion in local streams, along with the movement of soil and rocks, may further increase travel risks on mountain roads. Tourists and commuters have been urged to avoid unnecessary travel and exercise extreme caution while passing through landslide-prone areas or near unstable slopes.

The NEOC said it is continuously monitoring potential hazards and ensuring timely dissemination of information to relevant authorities. Meanwhile, the NDMA has directed local administrations to remain prepared for any emergency response if conditions deteriorate.
