Special Olympics Pakistan’s three-day national competition concluded with 82 athletes from across the country, as ambassador Sarwat Gilani highlighted the power of inclusion, resilience, and equal opportunity.
Pakistani actor and Special Olympics Pakistan Ambassador Sarwat Gilani celebrated the achievements of athletes with intellectual disabilities as the organization’s three-day national sports competition concluded with a vibrant closing ceremony focused on inclusion, determination, and sportsmanship.
Held from July 21 to July 23, the national event brought together 82 athletes representing Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Islamabad Capital Territory. The competition provided participants with an opportunity to demonstrate their athletic abilities while promoting unity and equal participation through sports.
Gilani shared highlights of the event on social media, posting photos and videos of her interactions with athletes, volunteering alongside organizers, and presenting medals and awards during the closing ceremony. Her posts celebrated the dedication and perseverance displayed throughout the competition.
Reflecting on her role as a long-time ambassador for Special Olympics Pakistan, Gilani emphasized the importance of creating an inclusive society where individuals with intellectual disabilities receive equal opportunities to thrive.
“At Special Olympics Pakistan, we celebrate athletes who redefine courage, resilience, and possibility every single day. They don’t just compete—they inspire a nation. They remind us that inclusion is not charity; it is justice. It is love in action,” she said.
The event also highlighted the upcoming Inclusion Rocks concert series, designed to raise awareness and support for Special Olympics Pakistan. The musical initiative will feature performers Faisal Kapadia and Murtaza Qizilbash and is scheduled to take place in Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
