Lahore: Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended train operations on the Lahore–Faisalabad railway section after floodwaters affected a railway bridge near Qila Sattar Shah, prompting authorities to declare the structure unsafe for normal operations. The suspension will remain in place until further orders as engineers assess the bridge and carry out necessary repairs.
According to railway officials, heavy rainfall and the resulting flood situation damaged railway infrastructure between the affected stations, leading authorities to halt train services as a precaution to ensure passenger safety.
Pakistan Railways has also revised operations for several passenger services. The Karakoram Express and Shalimar Express have been diverted via Raiwind, Sahiwal, and Khanewal, while the Mianwali Express will operate through an alternate route via Wazirabad and Lala Musa. Meanwhile, the Badr Express and Ghouri Express have been temporarily cancelled.
Railway authorities said restoration work has begun, and normal train operations will resume once the bridge and track are declared safe. Passengers have been advised to confirm the latest train schedules before travelling.
