YouTube Finally Grants Creators Their Most-Requested Shorts Feature

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

YouTube has introduced custom thumbnails for Shorts, giving eligible creators greater control over branding and audience engagement.

YouTube has introduced a long-awaited update for Shorts, allowing eligible content creators to upload custom thumbnails for their short-form videos. The feature addresses one of the platform’s most requested creator demands and is expected to improve branding and viewer engagement.

Under the new rollout, creators enrolled in the YouTube Partner Program can now choose and upload a custom image as the thumbnail for their Shorts. Previously, creators could only select a frame from the video, making it difficult to maintain a consistent visual identity or create eye-catching designs.

The update enables creators to use more professional and visually appealing thumbnails, helping their content stand out and attract more viewers across the platform.

According to YouTube, custom thumbnails for Shorts have been among the most highly requested features by the creator community. The company said the feature is initially available to YouTube Partner Program members and will gradually expand to more creators in future updates.

The move reflects YouTube’s continued focus on providing creators with better tools to grow their audiences and strengthen their presence in the increasingly competitive short-video market.
