The Chief Election Commissioner announced the first confirmed results from five refugee constituencies as counting continues across the remaining seats in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections.
MUZAFFARABAD: The second phase of the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections concluded on Sunday, with the Election Commission announcing results from all five refugee constituencies.
Addressing a press conference alongside Senior Election Commission Member Khawaja Muhammad Ahsan and Member Syed Nazeer-ul-Hasan Gillani, Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd.) Ghulam Mustafa Mughal said vote counting was continuing in the remaining constituencies and official results would be announced as soon as they were finalized.
The initial results showed a strong performance by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), which secured four of the five refugee seats.
In LA-41 Kashmir Valley-2, PML-N candidate Muhammad Amir Shah won with 1,804 votes, defeating independent candidate Saba Diwan, who received 1,523 votes.
In LA-42 Kashmir Valley-3, PML-N’s Syed Shaukat Ali Shah secured victory with 1,524 votes against Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) candidate Muhammad Asim Sharif, who polled 466 votes.
PML-N candidate Muhammad Yaseen Lone won LA-43 Kashmir Valley-4 with 1,276 votes, defeating PPP’s Javed Butt, who received 563 votes.
In LA-44 Kashmir Valley-5, PML-N’s Muhammad Ahmed Raza Qadri claimed victory with 2,308 votes, while All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference candidate Mehr-un-Nisa secured 740 votes.
The only refugee seat won by the PPP was LA-45 Kashmir Valley-6, where Abdul Majid Khan received 3,448 votes to defeat All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference candidate Khawaja Muhammad Dilawar, who polled 823 votes.
