The Cockroach Janta Party said Instagram temporarily suspended its official account before restoring access several hours later, without publicly explaining the reason.
The official Instagram account of India’s Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) was temporarily suspended on Sunday and restored several hours later, prompting questions on social media about the reason behind the platform’s action.
CJP founder Abhijit Dipke said Instagram had suspended the party’s official account and shared a screenshot on X showing that the profile was unavailable. He criticised the decision and questioned why the account had been taken down.
The party later confirmed that its Instagram account had been suspended in the morning but was successfully restored later in the day. With access returned, CJP can once again use its official profile to publish content and communicate with followers.
The incident generated discussion across social media, with users offering different explanations for the temporary suspension. Some users connected the development to broader youth-led protest movements in India, while others accused the government of attempting to silence political opponents. However, those claims were made by social media users and have not been independently established.
Other users criticised India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and called for an explanation from Instagram regarding the account’s removal.
