AJK Election Commission announces nomination, final candidate list and polling dates for eight reserved seats in the Legislative Assembly.
The Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) has announced the schedule for elections to eight reserved seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly, with polling set to take place on Aug. 24.
Under the schedule, candidates will submit their nomination papers on Aug. 20. The nomination process will be conducted under the supervision of the Election Commission as part of the formal electoral procedure.
The final list of eligible candidates will be published on Aug. 23, one day before polling. The election commission will determine which nominees meet the requirements to contest the reserved-seat elections.
Polling for all eight seats will be held inside the AJK Legislative Assembly on Aug. 24.
The eight reserved seats represent several designated categories within the assembly. Five seats are reserved for women, while one seat is allocated to Ulema and Mashaikh. Another seat is reserved for overseas Kashmiris, and the eighth seat is designated for a technocrat.
The announcement sets a clear timetable for candidates and political parties to complete the nomination process and meet all electoral requirements within the specified deadlines.
Reserved seats form an important part of the overall composition of the AJK Legislative Assembly, providing representation to specific groups alongside members elected through general seats.
