A 14-year-old farm worker died in Bahawalpur after allegedly being severely assaulted in Fort Abbas, prompting police to add murder charges.

A 14-year-old boy has died after allegedly being subjected to severe physical assault in Fort Abbas, Bahawalnagar, with police launching further legal action following the teenager’s death.
The incident was reported within the jurisdiction of Marot Police Station, where Muhammad Rizwan, reportedly employed by an influential landowner, was allegedly beaten by several people following a mistake at work, according to initial information.
The boy was reportedly transferred to Bahawalpur in critical condition for medical treatment. He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
A police spokesperson said authorities had registered a case after receiving information about the alleged assault and detained one of the suspected suspects. Following the boy’s death, a case was registered on the complaint of his mother against three people at Marot Police Station.
Police said murder charges are now being added to the case in light of the teenager’s death. Authorities are also obtaining the post-mortem examination and medical report, while additional evidence is being collected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
District Police Officer Muhammad Imran said the accused would face the strictest punishment under the law if found responsible.
