Pakistan has extended passport service hours at eight major regional offices, allowing citizens to access services from 8 a.m. to midnight.
ISLAMABAD: Citizens applying for or renewing passports can now access services for longer hours as the government has introduced a double-shift system at eight major regional passport offices across Pakistan.
The new policy came into effect Aug. 20, extending service hours from the existing daytime schedule to 8 a.m. to midnight at the selected offices.
The eight regional passport offices covered under the double-shift system are located in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Multan, Bahawalpur, Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad and Quetta.
Under the new arrangement, the first shift will operate from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., while the second shift will continue from 4 p.m. to midnight.
The extended working hours are expected to provide greater convenience to people who are unable to visit passport offices during regular daytime hours. The facility is particularly useful for employees, students and other citizens whose daily commitments make daytime visits difficult.
With offices remaining open until midnight, applicants will have additional opportunities to complete passport-related procedures, including applications and renewals, during evening hours.
The double-shift arrangement is also expected to help manage the growing rush at passport offices by distributing visitors across a longer service window.
