Google is expanding AI Mode with flight fare tracking, loyalty rewards comparisons and hotel booking tools to simplify travel planning.
Google is expanding its AI Mode search experience with new travel features that allow users to track flight prices, compare rewards programs and find hotels without switching between multiple travel websites and apps.
The new tools bring flight price monitoring directly into AI Mode. Users can provide their destination and preferred travel dates, after which AI Mode can search current fares across more than 300 airlines and travel websites.
Travelers who are not ready to book can also ask Google to monitor fares. Google will send an email when the price changes. The flight price tracking feature is available in more than 180 countries, giving users a way to monitor fares while waiting for a potentially better deal.
Google has offered flight price tracking through Google Flights for years, but the new integration allows users to manage the process through an AI-powered conversation.
Rewards points can be compared
Google is also adding tools for travelers who prefer airline miles and hotel loyalty points. Users can ask AI Mode how many rewards points or miles are required for a particular flight or hotel.
At launch, the feature supports programs and companies including Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels, Hilton and Wyndham.
Google plans to expand the feature to additional programs, including Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM and Lufthansa’s Miles & More.
The feature could help frequent travelers compare the value of paying cash with redeeming accumulated rewards.
Hotel booking added to AI Mode
AI Mode is also gaining a hotel booking option. Users can describe their preferred hotel, budget and location, allowing the system to surface suitable properties along with reviews and other relevant information.
After selecting a hotel, users can choose the “Continue on Google” option to proceed with the booking. The process includes selecting a room, reviewing cancellation terms and completing payment through Google Pay.
Google does not directly handle the hotel transaction. The hotel or booking service remains responsible for the reservation and customer support.
Hotel feature rolling out in the US
The hotel booking feature is rolling out in the United States over the coming weeks. Google is working with travel companies including Booking.com, Expedia, Marriott and Priceline.
The additions further expand AI Mode beyond traditional search by bringing several stages of travel planning into one conversation. Users can now search for flights, monitor fares, compare rewards options and explore hotels within the same AI-driven experience.
While travelers should still compare prices, policies and booking conditions before making a purchase, the new tools could make the initial stages of trip planning faster and more convenient.
