Veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai has recalled a heated disagreement with Salman Khan that escalated into a physical altercation before they eventually worked together on Yuvvraaj.
Veteran Bollywood filmmaker Subhash Ghai has opened up about a bitter incident with actor Salman Khan, revealing that an argument between the two once escalated into a physical altercation.
Ghai, 81, discussed the incident during a recent interview with Indian media. He said Salman Khan’s brother had previously advised him to cast the actor in one of his films, prompting him to agree to work with Salman and eventually develop the story for Yuvvraaj.
However, before production began, the filmmaker said the relationship hit a rough patch following a heated argument at a party.
According to Ghai, Salman was allegedly under the influence of alcohol when he made what the filmmaker considered an inappropriate remark. Ghai said he objected to the actor’s behavior, after which Salman questioned some of his decisions as a director.
Ghai maintained that decisions concerning the film were his responsibility as the director. The disagreement reportedly intensified and eventually became physical.
The situation was later addressed by Salman’s father, veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, who intervened after learning about the incident. Ghai recalled that Salim Khan reprimanded his son and told him to apologize to the filmmaker.
The following morning, Salim Khan reportedly called Ghai to express regret over what had happened and said he had spoken firmly to Salman.
Ghai said Salman later visited his home personally and apologized to him respectfully. According to the filmmaker, Salman’s willingness to accept his father’s advice and show respect helped him regain his positive feelings toward the actor.
Ghai eventually forgave Salman, and their relationship gradually returned to normal. Despite their earlier dispute, the two continued meeting and ultimately collaborated on Yuvvraaj.
