Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif engages with regional and global leaders on bilateral and international issues during the SCO summit in Bishkek.
BISHKEK: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Bishkek on Sept. 1, where he held a series of informal interactions with regional and global leaders.
The meetings took place on the sidelines of the summit in a cordial atmosphere, with discussions covering important regional and global developments as well as bilateral matters.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Shehbaz Sharif remained a focal point during the interactions with the participating leaders.
Among those who engaged with the Pakistani prime minister were Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian.
The informal interactions also included Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
The discussions provided an opportunity for the leaders to exchange views on matters of mutual interest alongside the formal proceedings of the SCO summit.
Pakistan is a member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, a regional grouping that brings together major countries from across Eurasia. The organization focuses on cooperation in areas including regional security, economic connectivity and political dialogue.
