Questions have been raised over the reported appointment of multiple BPS-07 constables as station house officers in Lower South Waziristan.
WANA: Concerns have been raised over the reported appointment of multiple BPS-07 constables as station house officers (SHOs) at different police stations in Lower South Waziristan, with demands for an immediate and impartial inquiry by senior police authorities.
According to a press release issued in connection with the matter, the District Police Officer (DPO) of Lower South Waziristan allegedly appointed several BPS-07 constables as SHOs at various police stations on Sept. 3, 2026.
The press release questioned whether the reported appointments were made in accordance with applicable police laws, service rules and departmental regulations. It said that if the appointments were found to be contrary to established rules, the matter could raise serious concerns regarding police ranks, the chain of command and departmental discipline.
The press release called on the Inspector General of Police, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the RPO-DIG, Dera Ismail Khan, to clarify whether senior police authorities were aware of the appointments and whether formal approval had been obtained.
It further urged the authorities to conduct an immediate investigation if the appointments were made without the required approval. If any violation is established, the responsible officer or personnel should face departmental action in accordance with applicable rules, the statement said.
At the same time, the press release called for clarification of the legal and departmental basis of the appointments if they had been formally approved by the competent authorities.
The statement described Wana and Lower South Waziristan as sensitive areas where strict adherence to rules governing police command structures, ranks and powers is particularly important. It warned that any unlawful or irregular administrative action could undermine the professional credibility of the police, public confidence and the overall law-and-order situation.
The press release also demanded an immediate review of the reported appointment orders and all relevant departmental records.
It said that if any irregularity, violation of rules or abuse of authority is established during the review, those responsible should face legal and departmental action without discrimination.
