ISLAMABAD: The deadline for vehicle M-Tag registration in the federal capital has officially expired, prompting authorities to begin strict enforcement from tomorrow. To facilitate citizens, Director General Excise announced that two M-Tag centres at 26 Number Chungi and 17 Meel (Phagran) toll plazas will now operate 24 hours a day.
Islamabad Deputy Commissioner Irfan Memon stated that temporary M-Tag service centres at Kachnar Park (I-8) and F-9 Park will remain open until midnight today to accommodate last-minute registrations. He warned that vehicles without M-Tags will be stopped at checkpoints using M-Tag readers.
The deputy commissioner, along with the DG Safe City, Chief Traffic Officer, and SSP Operations, inspected several checkpoints to review enforcement arrangements. Initially, operations will begin at 12 key checkpoints across the city.
Citizens have been urged to get their M-Tags installed immediately to avoid inconvenience, as M-Tag services are currently available at 16 locations in Islamabad.
