Election Commission Suspends Membership of Seven Balochistan Assembly Members

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

Quetta:(Rashid Bugti)- The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken major action by suspending the membership of seven members of the Balochistan Assembly for failing to submit their asset and liability declarations for the financial year 2024–25. The decision was taken under Section 137, Subsection (3) of the Election Act, 2017.

According to an official notification issued on January 16, 2026, the suspended members did not submit details of their own assets, as well as those of their spouses and dependent children, by the stipulated deadline of January 15.

Sources identified the suspended lawmakers as Faisal Khan Jamali, Muhammad Zareen Khan Magsi, Mir Zafarullah Khan Zehri, Malik Naeem Khan Bazai, Bakht Muhammad, Zarak Khan Mandokhail, and Safia, who was elected on a reserved seat for women.

The ECP clarified that these members will remain inactive as legislators until they submit the required asset declarations. During the suspension period, they will not be allowed to attend parliamentary sessions, participate in the legislative process, or engage in any official parliamentary or government-related activities.

The Election Commission reiterated that submitting annual asset declarations is a mandatory legal requirement aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and integrity in the democratic process.
