NADRA Eases CNIC Rules for Women Without Birth Certificates

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

NADRA has introduced a limited-time facility allowing eligible women without birth certificates to apply for CNICs under specific verification conditions.

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced a special facility for women who do not have birth certificates, allowing eligible applicants to obtain computerized national identity cards (CNICs) under specific conditions.

The facility is available to women aged 18 and above, including both married and unmarried women. However, applicants must meet NADRA’s prescribed requirements and complete biometric verification through an eligible family member.

For married women, NADRA will accept a computerized marriage certificate as part of the application process. The applicant’s husband or one of her parents must also be physically present for biometric verification.

Unmarried women without birth certificates can apply on the basis of an identity card belonging to one of their parents, a sister or a brother. In such cases, one of the applicant’s parents or siblings must be physically present during the biometric verification process.

The facility is intended to provide an alternative route for women who face difficulties obtaining a CNIC because they do not have a birth certificate. It covers both married and unmarried applicants, subject to the specified verification requirements.

NADRA has clarified that the facility is temporary and will remain available until Dec. 31, 2026. Women seeking to benefit from the arrangement are required to approach their nearest NADRA registration center within the specified period.

The initiative could provide an additional avenue for eligible women to complete the CNIC application process when a birth certificate is unavailable. Applicants should ensure that the required family member is available for biometric verification and that the relevant supporting documents are presented at the time of application.
