Muzaffarabad : A two-day surgical symposium organized by the Midland Doctors Medical Institute (MDMI) was successfully held in Muzaffarabad, attracting renowned surgeons, medical professionals, and students from across the region. The event aimed to promote academic excellence, enhance practical surgical training, and strengthen professional collaboration among healthcare practitioners.
The symposium commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by an inaugural address by senior consultant surgeon Dr. Syed Yousaf Iftikhar, Chairman of the Midland Doctors Association UK. In his speech, Dr. Iftikhar emphasized the importance of adopting modern surgical techniques and continuous professional development to improve patient care.
Academic sessions featured detailed lectures on a wide range of surgical topics by eminent speakers, including Professor Dr. Raja Ijaz, Professor Dr. Tanveer, Professor Dr. Farzana, Assistant Professor Dr. Gohar Latif, Professor Dr. Tanveer Sadiq Chaudhry, and Dr. Naeem Butt. The speakers shared insights on recent medical advancements, clinical experiences, and best surgical practices.
In addition to academic discussions, operation theatre–based (OTB) sessions were conducted on both days. Senior surgeons performed live surgeries, providing hands-on learning opportunities for medical students and practicing doctors. Participants actively engaged in interactive question-and-answer sessions with experts.
The symposium concluded with closing remarks by Dr. Syed Yousaf Iftikhar, who expressed gratitude to guest speakers, organizers, and participants, highlighting the role of such initiatives in improving medical education and healthcare standards in the region.
