Information Ministry Rejects Reports of Road Closures in Islamabad

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

The Information Ministry says containers were placed as a precautionary measure under Islamabad High Court directions and do not amount to road closures.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected reports claiming that roads have been closed in Islamabad, saying all roads in the capital remain open and citizens continue to have lawful freedom of movement.

In a statement, the ministry said containers placed at certain locations were part of precautionary security measures taken in accordance with directions from the Islamabad High Court.

The ministry said the measures were intended to protect the lives and property of citizens, public infrastructure and sensitive installations while maintaining law and order.

It added that the authorities had also taken into account what it described as violent incidents associated with the relevant political party in the past.

According to the ministry, the presence of containers should not be equated with road closures, as Islamabad’s roads remain open and legal movement of citizens continues.

The ministry also rejected reporting by Al Jazeera that, according to the statement, portrayed the security measures as road blockades.

It said the broader context behind the measures taken to maintain public order had been overlooked, resulting in what it described as one-sided reporting that could create a misleading and negative impression among the public.

The ministry maintained that security arrangements were precautionary in nature and were aimed at ensuring public safety while protecting key infrastructure and sensitive sites.

“Falsehood and propaganda cannot replace facts,” the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said, reiterating its position that describing the placement of containers as road closures was contrary to the facts.
