Pakistan will open their 2027 World Cup campaign against Afghanistan before facing India, Qualifier A, Zimbabwe and Australia in the group stage.
Pakistan and India will renew their fierce cricket rivalry on Oct. 10 in Johannesburg after the International Cricket Council announced the complete schedule for the 2027 Men’s Cricket World Cup.
The 14-team tournament will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia, with 57 matches scheduled across 12 venues. The World Cup will be the 14th edition of the men’s tournament and the biggest edition staged in Africa.
Pakistan have been placed in Group A alongside defending champions Australia, India, Afghanistan, co-hosts Zimbabwe and Qualifier A.
The Green Shirts will begin their World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on Oct. 8 in Tshwane. Two days later, Pakistan will face arch-rivals India in Johannesburg in one of the most anticipated matches of the group stage.
Pakistan will then play Qualifier A on Oct. 15 in Bloemfontein, followed by matches against Zimbabwe on Oct. 19 in Harare and Australia on Oct. 22 in Paarl.
The tournament will begin with a Super Series in Windhoek on Oct. 2. The three teams qualifying through the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier will play a round-robin stage, with the top two teams advancing to the main round.
The main round will consist of 12 teams divided into two groups of six. Australia will open their campaign against India in Cape Town on Oct. 7, renewing the contest between the two sides that met in the 2023 World Cup final.
Following the group stage, the top three teams from each group and the highest-ranked remaining team across the two groups will advance to the Super Seven phase.
The seven teams will play six further matches between Oct. 25 and Nov. 14, with the top four advancing to the semi-finals.
Pakistan are scheduled to face New Zealand, England, South Africa, India, Sri Lanka and Australia during the Super Seven stage, subject to their qualification and final group positions.
The first semi-final will be played in Cape Town on Nov. 17, while the second semi-final is scheduled for Nov. 18 in Tshwane. The World Cup final will take place in Johannesburg on Nov. 21, with Nov. 22 set as the reserve day.
The official schedule was unveiled at a launch event in Cape Town on Thursday, featuring former and current cricket stars.
The ICC has also opened registration for its ticket ballot, allowing fans to register their interest in matches across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
