Attaullah Tarar Criticizes PTI Over Development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Lorem Ipsum is simply dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry. Lorem Ipsum has been the industry’s standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.

It was popularised in the 1960s with the release of Letraset sheets containing Lorem Ipsum passages, and more recently with desktop publishing software like Aldus PageMaker including versions of Lorem Ipsum.

The information minister cited roads and major infrastructure projects while questioning the PTI government’s record on health, education and development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) over its development record in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, questioning why the provincial government had failed to deliver what he described as essential improvements in health, education and infrastructure.

Speaking to the media at Parliament House, Tarar said several major infrastructure projects in the province, including the Kohat Tunnel and the motorway, had been built during Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) governments.

“I have just visited Kohat. Believe me, the Kohat Tunnel was built during a PML-N government, and the motorway was also built during the PML-N’s tenure,” he said, adding that many development projects in the area dated back to the party’s time in power.

Tarar questioned why residents of Kohat continued to face what he described as poor infrastructure despite the constituency having been represented by federal ministers from the area.

“What is the fault of the people of Kohat that they could not be provided with infrastructure?” he asked, referring to broken roads, streets in poor condition and what he described as a lack of development.

The information minister said he had also visited Nowshera, Akora Khattak, Khyber and Peshawar, where he examined conditions across different areas. He questioned why the provincial government had not established major health care facilities, universities and other public infrastructure on the scale he said was needed.

Tarar specifically referred to the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) as an example of a major health care project, arguing that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should also have benefited from comparable investment in public health facilities.

He also raised questions about the absence of Safe City camera systems and major educational institutions, while highlighting the need to support students through opportunities such as laptops and access to higher education abroad.

According to Tarar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a large pool of talented students, many of whom pursue education in Islamabad and other parts of the country. He argued that greater investment in education and opportunities for young people could help them develop their potential.

The minister characterized the situation in the province as a breakdown in health care, education and infrastructure. He also criticized what he described as the PTI leadership’s focus on making TikTok videos, using abusive language and levelling allegations against state institutions.

Tarar further questioned the party’s credibility in negotiations, alleging that its representatives had agreed to negotiations and finalized an agreement before subsequently backing away from it.

“This is not a children’s game,” he said, criticizing what he portrayed as a lack of consistency in the negotiation process.

His remarks focused on the PTI’s governance record in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the need for public investment in essential services. The claims about the province’s development performance and the political negotiations were presented as Tarar’s criticism during his media talk.
