Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting dismisses a viral social media claim that the US Navy is conducting operations against Iran from Pakistani territory with Islamabad’s approval.
Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting on Oct. 18, 2026, rejected social media claims that the United States Navy was conducting military operations against Iran from Pakistani territory with Islamabad’s permission, describing the allegation as fabricated propaganda intended to mislead the public.
In a clarification posted on X, the ministry said a North American-based social media account had circulated a false claim suggesting that the US Navy was launching operations against Iran from Pakistan.

The ministry urged the public not to give credibility to the allegation, warning that spreading unverified claims could create confusion, fuel misunderstandings and contribute to unrest.
“These posts are part of a broader agenda to spread confusion, misunderstanding and chaos,” the ministry said, dismissing the allegation as unworthy of serious consideration.
The statement was issued amid heightened regional tensions linked to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, which has raised concerns about military activities, regional security and the potential involvement of neighbouring countries.
Pakistan’s clarification sought to counter speculation that its territory was being used to support American military action against Iran. The ministry maintained that the specific claim had no factual basis and should be treated as propaganda rather than credible information.
The ministry also highlighted the risks associated with unverified social media content during periods of geopolitical tension. Such claims can spread rapidly online, potentially misleading audiences and creating confusion about sensitive regional security issues.
It called on the public to recognise the allegation as propaganda rather than amplify it by sharing the post further.
According to the ministry, the disputed claim originated from a social media account based in North America. However, the clarification did not provide further details about the account or identify the individuals responsible for circulating the allegation.
The statement also did not provide additional information about any separate military arrangements between Pakistan and the United States.
The ministry’s response specifically rejected the allegation that Pakistan had authorised the use of its territory for US naval operations against Iran. It urged the public to exercise caution when encountering claims about military activity and regional security on social media.
The clarification adds to efforts to counter unverified online claims about the US-Iran conflict and Pakistan’s alleged role in related military operations. The ministry’s message was that the specific allegation should not be treated as credible information.
