SADIQABAD — Police have achieved a major breakthrough in operations against criminal gangs operating in the riverine (katcha) areas of Sadiqabad, as a notorious outlaw carrying a Rs10 million bounty surrendered along with 18 of his associates.
District Police Officer Rahim Yar Khan, Irfan Ali Samo, said the surrender was the result of sustained drone surveillance and an effective operational strategy adopted by law enforcement agencies. The gang, led by Wahab Lond, laid down its arms after facing continuous pressure from coordinated police actions in the katcha belt.
According to police officials, Wahab Lond, the head of the Lond gang, was among the most wanted criminals in the region. Multiple serious cases have been registered against the surrendered suspects, including attempted murder, armed robbery and kidnapping for ransom.
All accused will be produced before relevant courts and prosecuted in accordance with the law, police said.
A joint press conference was held at Bangla Achha by the district police officers of Rahim Yar Khan and Rajanpur, where officials confirmed that a joint operation involving police from Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur and Ghotki districts is still ongoing.
Authorities said operations will continue until lasting peace and complete restoration of law and order are ensured in the riverine areas.
