Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has stressed that a strong, professional and people-centric police force is essential for ensuring internal security and upholding the rule of law in Pakistan.
He made these remarks while interacting with Inspectors General of Police, Additional IGPs and senior police officers during his visit to the National Police Academy in Islamabad. Upon arrival, the Field Marshal was received by the commandant of the academy and was presented with a guard of honour by a police contingent.
Field Marshal Asim Munir laid a wreath at the Police Martyrs’ Monument and offered Fateha, paying tribute to police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty while protecting peace and public safety. He acknowledged the sacrifices made by the police in combating terrorism, crime and internal security challenges.
During the visit, he was briefed on training programmes, modernization initiatives and the School for High-Impact Elite Law Enforcement Development. He also interacted with cadet assistant superintendents of police, highlighting the police’s role as the first line of defence for citizens.
The Field Marshal emphasized inter-agency coordination, modern policing practices and building public trust, reaffirming that the armed forces stand firmly with Pakistan’s police. The interior minister and minister of state for interior were also present.
