RENALA KHURD: (Rana Usman) A sessions court in Renala Khurd has sentenced two guys to life imprisonment after convicting them in a rape case involving a mentally disabled girl, officers stated on Tuesday.
Additional sessions judge Shabir Akhtar Raja announced the decision, finding the accused, identified as Rizwan and Irfan, guilty of sexual assault. The courtroom additionally imposed a fine of Rs600,000 on each convict. In case of failure to pay the fine, the convicts may be required to serve an additional six months in jail.
According to the prosecution, the incident concerned the rape of a lady with mental disabilities. Police from Saddar Police Station arrested the suspects in January 2025 following an investigation.
District Police Officer Rashid Hidayat welcomed the court’s decision, declaring that crimes together with rape deserve no leniency. He praised the investigating officer and the legal team for ensuring a strong case and securing the conviction.
“The punishment sends a clear message that those concerned in heinous crimes will be handled strictly beneath the law,” the DPO said.
A police spokesperson said the department remains committed to protecting susceptible segments of society and ensuring justice via powerful investigation and prosecution.
The decision was announced amid tight security at the court premises.
