SARGODHA: (Tahir Kamboh) at least four people were killed and eight others injured when a truck carrying agricultural straw overturned on Dhorri road close to Hamza Petroleum inside the Mianwali Bhaira area on Tuesday, police said.
The truck was travelling from Mellowal to Bhaira when the driver reportedly lost control, causing the heavily loaded vehicle to overturn. Twelve laborers were riding on the truck at the time of the accident. several workers were trapped beneath the overturned vehicle and sustained critical injuries.
Rescue officials said the deceased suffered excessive head injuries and died on the spot, while the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospital Bhaira for medical treatment. hospital authorities confirmed that some of the injured remain in serious condition.
Following the accident, traffic on Dhorri road was temporarily disrupted as rescue teams and local citizens worked to clear the area. Police reached the scene shortly after the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
Officials said legal proceedings are underway, and statements from witnesses are being recorded. authorities have urged transporters to strictly follow safety guidelines, specifically when carrying laborers on goods vehicles, to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
