President Approves Confirmation, Extension of Additional High Court Judges

ISLAMABAD: (Yaseen Hashmi) President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the confirmation and extension of service of additional judges in several high courts, acting on the recommendations of the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, official sources said on Tuesday.

According to the report, additional judges of the Sindh high court, Lahore high court and Peshawar high court have been confirmed as permanent judges. Further, the president has permitted extensions inside the tenure of some additional judges serving in various high courts.

The decisions have been taken in line with recommendations forwarded through the Judicial commission of Pakistan, which is constitutionally mandated to oversee judicial appointments and make sure transparency inside the manner.

Officials said the move aims to maintain continuity in judicial proceedings and enhance the effective functioning of the courts amid an growing backlog of instances. The confirmation and extension of judges are expected to strengthen institutional balance and assist the well timed disposal of pending litigation.

legal experts view the approvals as a routine but significant step in reinforcing the judicial system, specially at a time when courts are below mounting pressure to deliver fast justice.

The presidency has formally notified the selections, and the showed judges will assume their responsibilities as everlasting contributors of their respective high courts with immediate effect, the sources added.
