A historic Grand Jirga was held in Datta Khel tehsil of North Waziristan under the leadership of the local Brigade Commander bringing together a large number of tribal elders and notables from Datta Khel Dwa Toi Awaz Khel and surrounding areas.
During the Jirga the participants unanimously condemned terrorism and all subversive activities in the strongest terms. The tribal elders reaffirmed their collective responsibility for establishing lasting peace and stability in the region pledging that no terrorist elements would be provided shelter facilitation or support under any circumstances.
The Jirga resolved that the presence of any suspicious individuals or non local elements would be immediately reported to security forces. It was also agreed that existing curfew orders and movement restrictions would be strictly enforced.
Tribal elders assured full cooperation in identifying arresting, and handing over those involved in the tragic incident at Datta Khel Bazaar on January 21. The Jirga warned that if facilitation of terrorists is proven in any village, the elders of that village would be held directly responsible.
The elders further committed to securing Datta Khel Bazaar through effective tribal monitoring and reaffirmed their resolve to uphold the writ of the state standing shoulder to shoulder with security forces against the enemies of peace.
