Peshawar:(By Roshan Khan) World Bank President Mr. Ajay Banga, accompanied by Federal Minister for Finance Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, Member of the National Assembly Faisal Amin Gandapur, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Finance Advisor Muzammil Aslam, visited the historic Julian Buddhist Monastery.
During the visit, the World Bank President expressed satisfaction over the excellent condition of the archaeological site and commended the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, particularly the initiatives taken under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development (KITE) Project, for the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage. He noted that tourism could play a vital role in generating employment opportunities and fostering sustainable economic growth in Pakistan.
Director General of Archaeology and Museums, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Dr. Abdul Samad, briefed the delegation on the historical significance of the Julian Buddhist Monastery, ongoing conservation efforts, and future plans aimed at improving tourist facilities at the site.
The delegation expressed satisfaction with the preservation work and emphasized the importance of international cooperation in safeguarding Pakistan’s cultural heritage and promoting tourism.
