PESHAWAR: (Anwarzeb Khan) A significant women’s rights awareness seminar was held at the Commissioner House in Peshawar, chaired by Commissioner Peshawar Division, Riaz Khan Mehsud, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s first female provincial ombudswoman, Rabab Mehdi.
The seminar brought together officials from all five districts of the Peshawar Division, women from various professional backgrounds, and representatives of social organizations. The event focused on women’s rights, addressing harassment, and ensuring inheritance rights.
Speaking at the seminar, Rabab Mehdi highlighted the challenges faced by women, including incidents of harassment and legal hurdles in claiming inheritance. She provided detailed guidance on how women can seek legal support and protection without the need for a lawyer.
Mehdi also announced that women can directly file complaints at the Provincial Ombudsman’s office located in the Benevolent Fund Building, Peshawar Cantt. Furthermore, she declared that an open court will be organized next week across the province to facilitate women in asserting their legal rights.
The initiative aims to empower women through awareness, provide them access to justice, and ensure the implementation of effective measures to protect their rights.
