SARGODHA: (Tahir Kamboh) A soldier from Pakistan’s eastern Punjab province was killed while serving in Balochistan, officials and local sources said on Wednesday, marking another loss among security forces deployed in the restive southwestern region.
Muhammad Ijaz, a soldier of the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan, hailed from Thathi Muzammil, a suburban area near Shahpur in Sargodha district. Authorities confirmed that he died while performing his national duty. However, officials did not immediately release details about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Ijaz’s body was transported to his native village, where a large number of residents, relatives, and local dignitaries gathered to pay their final respects. His funeral prayer was scheduled to be offered in Thathi Muzammil, after which he would be laid to rest in the local graveyard with full honors.
The Frontier Corps plays a key role in maintaining security and conducting operations against militant groups in Balochistan, a province that has long faced security challenges.
Local residents described Ijaz as a brave and dedicated soldier who served the country with pride. Community members and officials expressed condolences to the bereaved family, praising his sacrifice for the nation.
