MUZAFFARABAD: (Fawad Sadiq) Acting President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Chaudhry Latif Akbar said Kashmir Solidarity Day highlights Pakistan’s continued political and diplomatic support for Kashmiris living in Indian-administered Kashmir.
In a video statement released on Wednesday, Chaudhry Latif Akbar said Pakistanis and Kashmiris around the world were observing the day to express unity with the people of Kashmir. He thanked Pakistan’s leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and the prime minister, for raising the Kashmir issue at international forums.
Chaudhry Latif Akbar also acknowledged Pakistan’s military leadership, saying it had strongly presented Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir. He claimed that recent regional tensions between India and Pakistan had drawn global attention to the disputed territory.
The AJK leader criticized India’s policies in Kashmir, alleging that the Indian government continues to commit human rights violations in the region. He urged the international community, particularly the United Nations, to ensure implementation of its resolutions regarding Kashmir.
Chaudhry Latif Akbar described Kashmir Solidarity Day as a symbol of the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Kashmiris. He said the observance demonstrates continued public and political support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
