Islamabad: Awami National Party (ANP) Central President Aimal Wali Khan has expressed concern over the report regarding former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health that was presented in the Supreme Court today.
In his statement, Aimal Wali Khan said that, as a political worker, the report is a matter of serious concern. He added that the current situation is not a positive sign for either the government or the state.
He emphasized that the Awami National Party has always believed in principled politics. According to him, no other political party in Pakistan has faced as much political suppression and attempts to dismantle it as ANP. Despite this, the party has consistently stood by democratic values.
He recalled that when similar treatment was being meted out to Nawaz Sharif and his family, ANP openly opposed it. Likewise, if the health concerns of PTI founder Imran Khan are being ignored today, ANP stands against that as well.
Aimal Wali Khan stated that ANP’s clear position is that health and family matters should remain above politics. Targeting the family or health of any political opponent is unacceptable under any circumstances.
He further demanded that, in accordance with the supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of law, the PTI founder should be provided all facilities that fall under his fundamental rights.
