ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s largest digital bank, Easypaisa, has launched an artificial intelligence-powered chatbot named “ello” to provide faster and more advanced financial services to millions of users.
The AI assistant is designed to improve customer service and strengthen financial inclusion by placing essential banking services directly in users’ hands. Customers can activate “ello” by simply logging into the Easypaisa app and shaking their mobile phone, prompting the chatbot to instantly appear on the screen.
The chatbot offers access to a product knowledge hub and functions as a virtual help center, guiding users in a conversational, human-like manner.
The initiative was developed in collaboration with Ant International, a global fintech firm.
Easypaisa’s Chief Digital Officer, Farhan Hassan, said the launch marks a significant step toward simplifying digital financial services for every Pakistani through AI-driven customer support. Ant International’s Chief Innovation Officer, Jiang Mingyang, described the partnership as part of a broader strategy to modernize business operations through artificial intelligence.
Easypaisa currently processes transactions exceeding 15 trillion rupees — equivalent to about 13% of Pakistan’s GDP — with one in five Pakistanis using the platform.
