National cricket captain urges focus and composure as global attention falls on Colombo showdown
COLOMBO: Pakistan captain Babar Azam urged his team to stay calm and focused ahead of the high-stakes T20 World Cup match against India on Sunday in Colombo.
In a pre-match video statement, Azam said encounters between Pakistan and India are always intense, attracting attention from around the world. “The more players keep themselves relaxed and focus on the game instead of external noise, the better they will perform,” he said. Azam acknowledged the excitement of the fixture but emphasized the importance of remaining tension-free.
The match will be held at R. Premadasa Stadium, where all 35,000 tickets have already been sold. The Sri Lankan Department of Meteorology has forecast possible rain, though fans remain hopeful for a complete game. Organizers say the fixture draws cricket enthusiasts not only from Sri Lanka but from across the globe, making it one of the sport’s biggest showdowns.
